Why We Walk
Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children. The most common are leukemias, brain & central nervous system tumors and lymphomas.*
In the U.S., more than 13,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. One in four will not survive.
Pediatric cancer research receives only 4% of all cancer-related funding.
Long-term follow-up analysis has shown that childhood cancer survivors remain at risk of complications and premature death as they age.*

We walk to support Hope & Heroes' life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders in the New York region — including support for families, cutting-edge research, and care that always puts children first.
We walk for our patient families – almost 50% of whom demonstrate financial need – and the relationships that we build along the way. It's those relationships, and the support from people like you, that allows Hope & Heroes to invest in medical research for tomorrow’s cures and help make possible state-of-the-art clinical treatments today.
See first-hand why this day is so special for everyone that attends!
