Fundraising Honor Roll

As you are aware, my nephew Eitan was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 when he was just 14 months old. He was stricken with the near identical cancer that I was diagnosed with exactly five years earlier. Both Eitan and I underwent surgery and follow-up chemotherapy. This has created a very special bond between us; a bond that Eitan might not be aware of yet. It was just about a year ago, while Eitan was undergoing his inpatient chemotherapy program at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in Manhattan that I learned about The Hope and Heroes Walk of Columbia University Medical Center. After meeting Eitan’s oncologist, Dr. Julia Glade Bender, I was introduced to this Walk and Dr. Glade Bender invited me to join her team. Hope & Heroes funds the life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders at Columbia University Medical Center including cutting-edge research, support for families and care that always puts children first.

Eitan received the finest of care in the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation at Columbia University Medical Center. The Division, located at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, is one of the largest and most distinguished centers for children with cancer and blood disorders in the country. Dr. Glade Bender and the remarkable and caring staff, made Eitan’s four rounds of chemo over a ten week period, as comforting and reassuring as possible for Eitan and his parents Janine & Max.

I will once again be involved in this year’s Hope & Heroes Walk, but unfortunately cannot participate in the actual event on Sunday, May 20th since it coincides with the Shavuot holiday. But rest assured I will be partaking in my own virtual walk along the West Side Highway. Please support me in helping end pediatric cancer and blood disorders by contributing generously to this event. Thank you so much.
