Hi :p I’m Julia and the little girl on the left is my sister, Maria. Maria is the reason why I wear mismatched socks. Maria was my best friend who always cared about the well-being of others, and my family and I thought that participating in this walk is a great way to honor her and at the same time raise awareness to this wonderful charity. While Maria was being treated at Columbia University Medical Center, I was able to learn and see the first-hand care and support that Hope & Heroes gave to the children receiving treatment as well as their families. We feel this is our opportunity to give back and help others. We know that this is something Maria would be happy for us to be a part of.

Your support would truly mean a lot to not only me and my family, but also the warriors fighting their battle. Please consider donating any amount, here on my page, or via Venmo (my username is juliamessina8). Also, definitely consider joining our team and walking with us!

The walk takes place at Pier 62 at Hudson River Park in New York and is such an inspiring and fun day to honor Maria and the amazing kids we are standing alongside. Even if you are unable to join us in person, you can join as a Virtual Walker and make a tax-deductible donation today :)

Thank you so much!

Ending childhood cancer and blood disorders is possible, together. That’s why I’m participating in the 11th Annual Hope & Heroes Walk on Sunday, September 26, 2021, and that’s why I need your help.

Hope & Heroes funds the life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders at Columbia University Irving Medical Center – including cutting-edge research, the newest and most advanced treatments, support for families, and care that always puts children first. Columbia is home to the largest and most comprehensive pediatric oncology & blood disorder programs in the country, treating over 1,500 patients a year with high-quality, compassionate care.

Funding from Hope & Heroes also ensures that every child, regardless of their ability to pay, gets the very best care.

This is why I’m participating this year, and why I’m asking you for your support.

DONATE TODAY using the link and make a difference. If you’re as passionate as I am about ending childhood cancer, you can also join my team!

Thank you again. Together we will help children today and save lives tomorrow.  Together, we can end childhood cancer and blood disorders.
