As most of you know, I transferred last year to a new position as a pediatric oncology nurse at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. I've been working hard for the last year to try and make our patients' experiences at the hospital a little better and a little brighter. One of the ways we are trying to do that is by implementing a program called Beads of Courage. The program recognizes the monumental journey that each child goes through from the time of diagnosis to the completion of treatment by awarding kids a bead for every milestone along the way. This gives them a visual representation of what they've endured (a bead for every transfusion, every blood draw, every chemo, every surgery, etc). In order to be a part of this program, we have to raise $5000 in startup costs. With that in mind, I'd like to invite you all to join me and my fellow 5 Tower nurses at our first annual Spring Fling event in New York City. All of the proceeds will directly benefit the kiddos on my unit, and if we reach our goal we will be able to implement Beads of Courage this year. Please support the little heroes that I am lucky enough to work with every night by spending a fabulously fun evening out with us!
If you can't join us, and would still like to help out, please consider donating directly to Hope & Heroes through this personal fundraising page. All donations on this page will be directed towards the Beads of Courage program. Any amount, no matter how large or how small, will help us reach our goal! Thank you!
