Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for my Bat MItzvah project with Hope & Heroes.I chose to focus my mitzvah project on pediatric cancer because my great aunt, Rebecca, died from cancer. I really wanted to have my project based around her because I am named after her and my whole torah portion is about strong women. My great aunt Rebecca was a very strong woman.
I chose the organization Hope and Heroes because they do not only help children when they are going through treatments, but they also help them after. Additionally, Hope and Heroes provide related services, for free, to improve the quality of life of the patients. For instance, they have yoga, nutrition, art, and more. They even help children transition back into their school environment. If a child needs extra time, people from the organization help make sure they get what they need.
Another thing I find interesting about Hope and Heroes is that funding from the organization helps support Columbia University Medical Center’s research on precision medicine. This hospital is about 10 years ahead of other hospitals in research which enables the targeting of specific types of cancer in order to cure them with the least amount of damage to other cells.
Thank you, again, for supporting Hope & Heroes in my honour.
